All about the outdoor sessions
What is a an outdoor portrait session?
Outdoor portrait sessions take place outside at a location of your choice. Together we’ll pick a location local in Cornwall such as a park, wood or beach. I am always open to suggestions so if there is somewhere special to your family let me know. Within a 15 mile radius of Truro is included in the price, with a little discretion further locations can be arranged for a small fee.
What’s the difference between an outdoor and studio session?
Outdoor portrait sessions are potentially more informal. They give more room to move about and instead of using props and clean backdrops we use the location to it’s maximum as your canvas. For younger children around toddler age these sessions enable them to run around possibly longer than they may sit or play in the studio.
How long does an outdoor portrait session last?
Sessions as standard are 60 minutes but I don’t like to rush my sessions. It all depends on how many people are involved, extra time can be tagged on if I have space and you want to continue.
How many people can be included in the photo session?
If it's over 4 people including parents and children then please speak to me first. Sometimes I may recommend an extra 30 minutes to ensure that we have enough time to get everything but it all depends on ages, willingness and where we choose to go.
What happens if it rains on the day of the session?
We have a couple of options as after all this is Cornwall. If it’s light rain and your child is happy playing in puddles or it’s a family photo session and you don’t mind a little rain, your session can still go ahead if you wish.
If that doesn’t appeal or it’s heavy rain, we can re-schedule for another date at no extra charge.
What happens if my child isn’t having one of his/her betters days or he/she is shy with you?
I am patient and generally click with most children after a few minutes. I’m not pushy and work with children enough to understand how to make them feel relaxed. As a dad I’ll understand if your child needs a little more time to warm up to the idea of having photos. I specialise as a family and children’s photographer which certainly helps but as all children are different if they are really unwell or something is not right we can always re-schedule the session.
